Survey results: Impacts of the pandemic on your career

Survey Pandemic Results

Back in March I asked 2 questions to find out how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted your career over the past year and I’m excited to share the results.

Since the onset of the pandemic, 69% of participants said that they were still in the same job as they were prior to the pandemic, confirming that stability reigns for the majority of the participants. 17% of participants, however said that they had lost their job and have used it as an opportunity to change their role or career. These people may have seen this change as an opportunity to grow and had the mindset needed to be able to face the change.

Looking at my second question around how fulfilled people felt in their career now compared with pre-COVID-19, 53% of the participants were simply feeling grateful to have a job, which again confirms the idea of stability and keeping the status quo. The reality is that rarely does one have a job for life and this corresponds to 17% of participants who replied that they are currently seeking employment. And finally, another 17% of participants said they wanted to change roles and explore something new and were on the path to making it happen. It would appear, according to William Bridges, that these people have understood their psychological reactions to change, planned for action and have embraced ongoing learning as an enabler to make further transitions that life may require.
